Doubloons
Make Friends. Have Fun.
In recent years, we have seen a trend where children suffer from obesity and a lack of physical activity. Parents are often frustrated with their child’s lack of physical and social competence but don't have an effective and engaging solution to mitigate the problem.
Doubloons is the perfect solution to this problem. Doubloons is a pirate-themed scavenger hunt that encourages the child to engage in a physical and social activity that is monitored through the app. Children complete short, relevant quests that can be customized by the parent. They have to find key pieces to open the final chest for their reward. Children are given the opportunity to communicate with their parents during the hunt and with their peers if they choose.

Role
My main role in this project was the Visual Lead. I worked on wireframing and designing the interactive prototype for the scavenger hunt. I designed the presentations and the final process book.

Problem
According to our research, many children suffer from low physical and social competence. Parents do not know what socially engaging activities would encourage their children to be more physically active.
Target User
Children - Age 6-12 years
How Might We
· help parents build their child’s physical competence in a socially interactive and engaging way?
· create a physical experience that motivates children to continue to engage in physical activity?
· improve physical competence and social competence of children staying indoors?
· facilitate the recognition of non-verbal cues?
· encourage the parent to become more involved in furthering the child’s competence by creating an experience that is intrinsically motivating for the child?
· create an experience that will engage the child and enable them to interact with their peers to improve their social competence?
